roller ovens, in the aging and testing of drilling fluids or muds.\u00a0 They are also known as mud aging cells.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Most drilling fluid formulations contain a base liquid and additives which must be dissolved or mechanically dispersed into the liquid to form a homogenous fluid. The resulting fluid may contain one or more of the following:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water-dispersible (soluble) polymers or resins<\/li>\n<li>Clays or other insoluble but dispersible fine solids<\/li>\n<li>Soluble salts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Drilling fluids are mixed or sheared for the appropriate time to achieve a homogenous mixture and are then set aside to\u00a0<em>age<\/em>.
